Keyboard shortcuts can help you save time and be more productive when working on a layout. In most cases, the layout view must have keyboard focus (be the active window) to use the shortcuts.
Select on the layout
Use keyboard shortcuts to make selections.
Keyboard shortcut | Action |

Ctrl+A | Select all the elements on the page. |
Ctrl+Backspace | Deselect all the elements on the page. |
Shift+Down arrow or Shift+Up arrow | Continuously select elements. Elements are deselected if you switch arrow keys while pressing Shift. |
Edit on the layout
Use keyboard shortcuts to work with elements on the page. Most of these shortcuts require a selection first.

Delete | Delete the selected elements. |
Ctrl+C | Copy the selected elements. |
Ctrl+X | Cut the selected elements. |
Ctrl+V | Paste the contents of the clipboard to the page. |
Spacebar | Switch the visibility of the selected elements. |
Shift+Up arrow, Shift+Down arrow, Shift+Left arrow, or Shift+Right arrow | Nudge the selected elements 5 points. |
Ctrl+Up arrow, Ctrl+Down arrow, Ctrl+Left arrow, or Ctrl+Right arrow | Nudge the selected elements 1/2 point. |
Navigate the page
Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate the page.

Insert | Zoom to the full page. |
Minus sign (-) | Zoom out. |
Plus sign (+) | Zoom in. |

C | Override the active tool with the Explore tool. |
Q | Roam. |
X | Zoom out incrementally. |
Z | Zoom continuously. |
< | Go to the previous extent. |
> | Go to the next extent. |
1 | Zoom and pan on the layout while a map frame is active. |

When a map frame is active on a layout, you can use the keyboard shortcuts for navigation to navigate on the map.
