While sketching feature geometry, you can snap to another feature by right-clicking the target feature, clicking Snap To Feature, and choosing a snap agent. The snap agent temporarily overrides your current snapping preferences.
To snap to a feature while actively sketching geometry, complete the following steps:
- If necessary, start creating a feature:
- On the ribbon, click the Edit tab. In the Features group, click Create .
- In the Create Features pane, click a feature template.
- If you choose a line or polygon feature template, create at least one vertex.
- Right-click the target feature geometry to which you want to snap, click Snap To Feature, and choose a snapping agent.
Endpoint
Snap to the nearest endpoint of an existing line feature
Vertex
Snap to the nearest vertex of an existing segment
Midpoint
Snap to the nearest midpoint of an existing segment.
Edge
Snap to the nearest edge of an existing segment
The pointer snaps to the nearest location that matches your choice.
