Share a table

You can share a stand-alone table, or multiple tables, to ArcGIS Online or an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 or later portal. You must be signed in to ArcGIS Pro with an active ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise account, and your account must have the privilege to publish hosted feature layers.

Supported stand-alone table formats include file geodatabase and other table formats used in ArcGIS Pro, such as .dbf, .xlsx, and .csv.

You may see formatting changes when a shared table is added to a web map, such as the following examples:

  • Numeric fields display only two decimal places.
  • Numeric fields have thousands separators.
  • Null fields are formatted as blank fields.
  • Some fields may not be displayed by default.

Share a table using the default configuration

When you add a stand-alone table to a map or scene in your ArcGIS Pro project, you can share it from the Contents pane. This workflow explains how to share a stand-alone table using default settings. To change the default configuration, see Configure a table.

  1. In the Contents pane, right-click the stand-alone table to share, point to Sharing, and click Share As Table Share As Table.

    The Share As Table pane appears.

  2. In the Share As Table pane, on the General tab, under Item Details, accept the default name or replace it with a new name.
  3. Optionally, complete the Summary and Tags fields.

    A summary and tags are required when sharing to an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9 or earlier portal.

    You can enter a maximum of 128 tags.

  4. Under Location, choose a folder in your portal content in which to store the table. Optionally create a folder.
    Tip:

    Click the Browse button Browse to browse to a folder in your portal content. You can also type a folder name in the text box.

  5. Under Share with, specify how the web layer will be shared:
    • Everyone—Share your content with the public. Anyone can access and see it.
    • My Organization—Share your content with all authenticated users in the organization. This option is available when you are signed in with an organizational account.
    • Groups—Share your content with groups to which you belong and their members.

    Leave all options unchecked to set the sharing level to the owner of the item.

  6. Optionally, click the Content tab to see the table located within the portal folder structure.
  7. Under Finish Sharing, click Analyze Analyze to review for problems.

    Errors and warnings are listed on the Messages tab. Right-click a message to open its help topic or take corrective action in the software. Errors Error must be resolved before you can share the table. Resolving warnings Warning is recommended but not required.

  8. After you have resolved errors, and optionally resolved warnings, click Publish Publish to share the table.
  9. When the table is successfully published, click the Manage the hosted table link at the bottom of the pane.
  10. If necessary, sign in to your portal to open the item page for the hosted table. Open the table in Map Viewer Classic or click the Data tab on the item page to see the table content.

Considerations when sharing to older portals

Stand-alone tables can be shared to earlier versions of ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal for ArcGIS, starting with Portal for ArcGIS 10.4. Limitations are listed below.

ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 and earlier

  • Preserve editor tracking info is not available.

ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1 and earlier

  • A web feature layer is created instead of a hosted table.
