Share an Indoor Positioning Data Service

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

The Indoor Positioning Data Service is a feature service that contains radio signal data unique to a specific indoor environment and optimized for live indoor positioning in that environment. It is created and published using the Share Indoor Positioning Data Service tool, using an IPS Positioning Dataset. The published Indoor Positioning Data Service can be used to enable IPS awareness in maps and web maps, and used with indoor navigation in IPS-compatible apps, such as Indoor Viewer.

To create and share an Indoor Positioning Data Service to the active portal, complete the following steps:

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
  2. On the ribbon, click the Analysis tab and click Tools Tools.

    The Geoprocessing pane appears.

  3. In the Geoprocessing pane, click the Toolboxes tab.
  4. Expand the Indoor Positioning Tools toolbox and click Share Indoor Positioning Data Service.

The Share Indoor Positioning Data Service tool opens in the Geoprocessing pane.

  5. Click the Browse Browse button next to the IPS Positioning Datasets parameter and choose a feature class that contains the dataset you want to share.

The Dataset Name drop-down list is populated with the names of the datasets available in the selected feature class.

  6. Click the Dataset Name drop-down arrow and select the dataset that you want to share.
    Note:

It is recommended to verify the ArcGIS IPS coverage of the Indoor Positioning Dataset before sharing the Indoor Positioning Data Service.

  7. Optionally provide a different name for the Indoor Positioning Data Service in the Title text box.

The Title parameter is automatically populated with the dataset name by default.

  8. Optionally provide values for the Summary and Tags parameters.
  9. Optionally click the Folder drop-down arrow and select a folder in the organization content where the Indoor Positioning Data Service will be shared.

The service is stored at the root level of the organization content by default.

  10. Click the Sharing Level drop-down arrow and specify how the Indoor Positioning Data Service will be shared:
    • Everyone (public)—Share your content with the public. Anyone who has access to the portal can find and use it.
    • My Organization—Share your content with all authenticated users in your organization.
    • Groups—Share your content with groups to which you belong, and their members.
    Note:

If you leave all options unchecked, the Indoor Positioning Data Service will only be available to you (private).

  11. Click Run.

An Indoor Positioning Data Service is published to your ArcGIS organization and can be used to enable IPS awareness in maps and web maps.
